The World Youth and Student Travel Conference is the yearly signature event for the now WYSE Travel Confederation. Working as a marketing and communications consultant for the conference, I have been responsible for developing not only its brand identity, but the strategic direction and implementation of its marketing and PR. I continue to create communications for the event, including newsletters, press releases, adverts and more, as well as provide at-the-conference consulting services.

Working with Art Director Gerard Whelan, we came up with a completely new brand identity for the conference. The WYSE Travel Confederation has since adopted Gerry's use of silhouettes for its own identity in its imaging as well.

Owing to growing use of social networks for marketing events, in 2009 we repositioned WYSTC with a nod to the networks. Importantly, though we needed to make sure that attendee prospects would still understand that the best way to do business was still and always will be: face to face.

New WYSTC descriptor:

"The World Youth and Student Travel Conference is the must attend B2B trade event for key stakeholders and organisations in youth, student and educational travel. WYSTC brings the many markets and diverse organisations that serve today's young travellers together under one roof to build and strengthen your business network -- person to person."

Aside from the repositioning, an industry news blog was added to the WYSTC website and a LinkedIn "Youth and Student Travel Professionals" association has been launched.
